About Christine

Aloha Spirit Performing Arts is a Polynesian dance group(school) based in Whittier. We have classes for keiki to sophisticated wahine. We accept students of all dance levels. As group steadily grows, we come together to enrich our lives with the love if the island culture and dance. Our main goal is to instill values, support and encourage through our Spirit of Aloha

I love performing and sharing the Aloha Spirit. My students do too.

I started teaching through the recreational center, but became very busy with dancing professional. After having my daughter, it was an adjustment. Balancing mom and professional dancer wasn't easy, but I didn't want to give up on my passion of Polynesian dance. I contacted a dance studio to see about teaching...and the rest is history.

I believe there is always a time for learning. This is how I grow as an instructor and person.

I have danced with halaus in Southern California and have trained professionally for several years.

I have experience in Hawaiian Hula, New Zealand Maori Poi, and Tahitian style dances.

I have taught recreational classes and have been an instructor of Polynesian Dance at a studio for 8 years. With the encouragement from my friends and family, I took the leap and start my own group.

About the lesson

I take the time to see their level and potential. I know within a new environment and around new people it can be scary, so I encourage the Aloha Spirit with all my students.

I have worked with students of all levels ages 3 and up. Even though I am the instructor, I have learned so much from my students and their families.

Communication is very important. Students should let teachers know what experience they have and any concerns they may have. This way a teacher can better assist you and let you know which class is best for you.

I had a special session called, "Come Dance With Me", where a lil keiki would learn a dance with a parent. (I also taught educational fun lessons which everyone seemed to enjoy.) I really loved seeing how enthusiastic they all were. I also had a dad join in and learn the hula with his little girl. It was a great bonding experience.

Details

Our classes for adults are monthly based on classes each month. I provide a pre-tuition discount, if payments are made before the 1st of every month.

At the moment, Children's classes are done in sessions and workshops. Prices vary bases on the number of classes.

I also teach on location workshops, Polynesian crafts (prices vary) and interactive shows. Just contact for estimates.
