About Linda

Learn how to dance with two of the most popular instructors in the Hudson Valley. Linda & Chester Freeman, of Got2Lindy Dance Studios, have been swingin' the Hudson Valley since 2004.

We have been named the best dance studioon the Knot for three consecutive years based on customer reviews.

We specialize in working one-on-one with wedding couples for their first dance, no matter what the song is. Our aim is to make the experience as fun as it should be...building confidence and skill. We also specialize in group swing dance classes, workshops, and events for all ages.

We've taught on cruise ships from Asia to Australia to the Amazon, hosted our own radio show, the Swing Shift, on WHVW, have been dance consultants for the movies and headliners at the Speigeltent.

Our hobby turned into our passion and then into our profession.

We have studied all traditional ballroom styles and specialize in swing, blues, balboa and charleston. We have been training in swing dance since 1999 and have studied with master teachers around the world, including the Ambassador of Lindy Hop: Frankie Manning (see book and movie of the same name, Tony award winner for Black & Blue and featured in Ken Burns' Jazz Documentary). As such, we teach the authentic form of swing dance known as the lindy hop that originated in the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem during the Big Band era.

About the lesson

For wedding couples, father/daughter, mother/son dances: We offer pay-as-you-go private lessons working with your special song in whatever style the song requires. We make the learning process easy and fun so you feel comfortable and confident on the dance floor!

For Group classes: No partner or experience is needed to learn to swing dance with us. We offer both group classes (beginner, intermediate and advanced levels) and private lessons.

Our group clasess are held in Kingston, Newburgh and Highland, NY. Private lessons are held in Marlboro, NY

Our typical student comes to us thinking they have two left feet but loving the music and the dance and wanting to get out and meet people, move their bodies and have fun!

See if you feel comfortable with the teacher, and if you would like to dance like him or her. If the teacher seems condesending or makes you feel like you need a lot of lessons to improve, look elsewhere. Learning to dance should build your confidence slowly, not destroy it.
