About Caroline Liviakis

Caroline Liviakis has taught and choreographed dance for 15 years to people of all ages (3-80), levels (beginner-professional), and reasons for taking dance (hobby-intensive training). She can teach jazz, contemporary, modern, ballet, hip hop, tap, musical theater, pilates, choreographing, and dance filmmaking. Caroline has taught dance at colleges and universities including: St. Mary's College of California, Mills College, Napa Valley College, Skyline College, and College of Marin.

Caroline is the Artistic Director and Founder of the San Francisco-based theatrical-contemporary dance company: The Caroline Liviakis Dance Company (CLDC). The company produces live performances and dance films that feature highly athletic and theatrical movement. CLDC also hosts classes for enthusiastic beginners as well as workshops for advanced dancers. Information on those classes can be found below!

Caroline and her choreography have been featured in the: San Francisco Chronicle, Marin Independent Journal, The Ark, The Skyline View, BayAreaDanceWatch, backstage.com, and SF/ARTS Magazine. Her choreography revceived a 'critic's pick' from the leading dance critic of the San Francisco Chronicle and CLDC was chosen by backstage.com as the top reccomended out-of-town company to dance in for L.A. dancers.

We love creating bold, ferocious, and unstoppable dancers. Our choreography and teaching methods emphasize mastering both the technical and performance/theatrical components of dance and performance, creating well-rounded and engaging dancers.

Caroline is a motivator. She loves working with people who have a desire to learn and challenge themselves. She loves introducing beginners to dance and helping to spark a life-long passion and desire to grow in the art form. For more advanced students she enjoys bringing new life to these forms and to invigorate often forgotten but important details that make all the difference when trying to improve and blossom.

In our classes, you'll learn some insanely fun, ferocious, and flirtatious choreography to some of your favorite hit songs. You'll get the chance to dance off the stress of a long week and feel confident, strong, and sassy. You'll get a great workout that you actually enjoy doing and meet a group of passionate and welcoming people.

About the lesson

We offer both classes and private lessons.

Private lessons are with the Executive Artistic Director of the company, Caroline Liviakis. As they are private lessons, they can be whatever the student wants them to be. Caroline can teach the following styles: jazz, contemrpoary, modern, ballet, hip hop, tap, and musical theater. She also teaches pilates for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and conditioning. She also can teach those interested in choreographing and dance film. She also can serve as a mentor to those interested in making dance a career and can help in articulating the differing options, cautions, and benefits of the career path. Caroline has taught people ages 3-80 and all levels of ability and experience.

Caroline can teach lessons in San Francisco and Marin (occasionally in other, surrounding areas too). Weekends are the best but some work week afternoons or Tuesday/Friday eves are also open.

Classes are generally once every 2 weeks in San Francisco at Studio 505 from 1-2:15pm (but check website for an up-to-date schedule). These classes we title "Beginners In The Fast Lane" as they are for intermediate/beginners but are taught at an accelerated pace. Classes begin with a warm up and then proress into learning a section of choreography that is often a mixture of jazz, hip hop, and contemproary. These classes are a fun, challening, and welcoming way to quickly immerse yourelf in a real dance class and will push you to learn material, technique, counts, and gain strength, flexibility, and balance at a faster pace. We also occasionally host longer workshops and classes for advanced dancers.

Private sessions are open to all ages. Caroline has taught students ages 3-80.

We work with students of all levels (beginner, intermediate, advances, pre-professional, professional) and reasons for taking dance (hobby, exercise, stress reliever, technique and performance advancemet, collegiate preperation, and professional development).
