About Marianne
I love creating, and if I can help someone else learn how to use materials and dispell the mysteries of creating an image, I love that!
I got started by people reaching out to me and asking for lessons. I found it very rewarding to help another person along in their art path.
I have taken many university art classes and attended many painting workshops by promenant artists in the united states over the years. Artists I've studied with ... Louis Escobedo, William Wray, Darrell Anderson and Henry Stinson.

When working with a new student, I begin with meeting them and talking about what they are hoping to learn and where they are at right now, as an artist. I like to ask them a few questions to find out what they are hoping to accomplish or explore. We talk about expectaions. What do they need from me and what I need from them for us to be a succeful team in helping the student on their path. If we feel we're a good match, then we set up a weekly time, or times, to meet. We establish if they come to my studio or if I come to them and we set up a time frame, how long is the lesson.
I'll let them know what they need in terms of supplies, and we're ready to go. I set up the lesson structured around what the student would like to learn. We'll talk about how the lesson will go before they come. I want students to feel as comfortable with the process of creating as possible. I don't want anyone feeling intimidated or surprised, so I try to be as transparent as possible about the lessons. Art is subjective. There is no wrong way to make it. It's not a pass or fail activity. But I do realize that it's intimidating to paint....there is risk involved. Making art is for the brave and it takes courage to create. I feel this way every time I start a new painting, so I have to be gentle with myself and I want my students to feel the same for themselves and the art they are about to create.
