This teacher was kind and patient with every student, and called drawings to the attention of all when they were successful. I believe she took into account the effort a student put into their classwork as well as their actual drawings. I think she made everybody feel comfortable in what for me was a challenging course, and she deserves a commendation for that.

Though there were many things, I think one thing that stuck out is how comfortable the studio felt. I think college can be tricky at first when it comes to students turning the other way because it's easier than reaching out and forming relationships. Mel had all of us talking to each other wether it was regarding our daily lives or the art work itself. I still am in contact with students that I shared that class with to this day as well as Mel herself; I can tell you that this is the only time I've come across this in my college experience so far.
