About Cory

I'm currently a high school teacher in the area with seven years of experience. I'm certified to teach 7th-12th grade, and also have a Master's degree in the Art of Teaching. I've taught 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders, as well as a Shakespeare specific elective course.

About the lesson

My first question will be: what are your goals?

I can be two types of tutors for you.

1. Specific Content Area Concern:

Have a paper due soon? I can help make it the best paper you can write. Do you struggle with grammar, and need someone to give personal guidance and extra practice resources? I can do that for you.

- We can identify some of your areas of concern and focus our work in a timely and efficient manner to elevate those particular skills.

2. Overall Improvement in English:

Do you just feel like you STRUGGLE in English class? Reading is difficult to comprehend? Writing feels like pulling teeth? Are you just flat-out miserable walking into English class because it's such a grind for you?

- I have a simple and steady approach that will give you confidence in all of these areas. Together, we'll make a plan for you to improve your overall reading and writing skills. I believe in a simple and non-threatening approach. We'll work together to improve your skills in English.

Try to identify a few specific areas you'd like to focus on during our sessions. I want to make every minute of our sessons count. In orderto to do that most efficiently, the more specific you are, the faster we can get started in improving your skills.

Details

My current rate is $40 for the first hour I work with your student, and $25/hr for the rest of our sessions. I'd like to keep sessions to one hour at a time; however, if you need more instruction, we can work out a time to make that happen.
