About Katie

Since I began teaching middle school in the Lower East Side of Manhattan some 19 years ago, I have had a deep passion for guiding children to find their best selves both in academics and in life. I have had a plethora of experience in diverse school settings including: middle school teacher of Social Studies, English and Humanities; English Department Head; consultant with a focus on social and emotional development; researcher; graduate school teaching assistant; curriculum designer and, most recently, tutor. I gained a scholarship when I first began teaching to create an integrated curriculum on Ancient Egypt and also recieved a scholarhsip to attend an intensive workshop in Washington DC on teaching the Holocaust and anti-bias to middle school students. I attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education where I focused my studies on Early Childhood in order to gain a deeper understanding of the span of chidhood and adolescent development. I earned a Masters in Education in the program of Risk and Prevention. I am certified to teach in New York State, pre-K through 6th grade. I am also a mom to three young children ages 8, 6 and 4 which has enriched my understanding and appreciation of family school partnerships, education and raising children. I currently teach yoga in Albany and Troy and tutor middle school students at the Robert C. Parker School. Find me also at: (concealed information)
