About Charlotte

I am a high school valedictorian who attended Boston College, obtaining degrees in Accounting and Communication in 2019. While at BC, I was a teaching assistant for a freshman-level business ethics seminar and a peer nutrition coach. I genuinely relished the opportunity to guide students with their academics and health.

After college, I obtained CPA licensure and spent two years working as an auditor at a multi-national accounting firm. These days, I am a research coordinator at the New York University School of Law. My ultimate goal is to be a professor and I look forward to working with pupils in a teaching capacity.

During college I took several writing workshops, and have also participated in informal writing classes during the past two years since graduation. I have taken a business writing class, fiction writing class, and participated in a revision seminar. I have experience with the AP Literature and AP Language exams, having scored a 5 on both. During my Communication curriculum I wrote a number of 25+ page academic papers and am familiar with the essay-writing process for college applications. In my current job, I frequently draft technical business memorandums. In my personal life, I write short-stories and personal essays.

Overall, my varied writing experience and genuine passion for the written word equips me with the tools I need to help pupils flourish.

I've always cherished words and am an avid writer and reader. I studied Communication in college and believe that the ability to generate efffective writing is a deeply important skill for many academic, professional, and personal contexts. I view writing as a tool of self-exploration as well as a vehicle for expressing the products of that exploration to others.

About the lesson

1. I spend some time reading through the piece of writing.

2. Sit down (or hop on a Zoom) to discuss in concise terms the high-level goal of the writing. What are we trying to achieve? Why does this piece of communication matter?

3. I provide general feedback to the student (both orally, and in a concise, written form).

4. In a shared document, I provide specific suggestions (grammatical, thematic, etc.) that the student can accept or reject.

5. Throughout the process we have open discourse about bringing out the core idea of the piece (this could morph over time)
