About Sophie
I am a recent graduate of Pace University with a 3.98 GPA, where I received my BA in Women’s and Gender Studies, my BFA in Acting, and Masters of Public Administration.
For the last three years, I’ve worked as a tutor at the Pace University Writing Center where I planned all writing workshops, trained new tutors, and oversaw students’ writing progress. In addition to my work at Pace, I tutor privately, working with students writing 8th grade biology reports, screenplays, PhD dissertations, and everything in between.
I have a passion for the writing process and helping people learn how to create and tell their own stories. I love facilitating people’s writing development and supporting them to be more confident as they approach their writing. I’m adept in a wide range of writing styles and levels, thanks to my experience tutoring students from every major as well as writing and defending two academic theses of my own.
I’m able to do appointments on Zoom if we aren't in the same place but you are still intrested in working with me, and I can guarantee they are the same quality level as in-person sessions. I am a master of Zoom writing appointments and do them often at my job.

I've found myself in classrooms as a teaching aid or assistant teacher since I was 15 years old. I started teaching and leading classes realted to theatre, since it's my passion in life, and from here moved onto being a part of more and more classroom settings.

First, I always try to get to know my students by chatting. Before we dive in, I want understand their thought processes around writing, and also get a sense for their worries or fears. From here, if we are working on a specific assignment I will go through it with the student and make sure we both understand it. If we are working on a specific skill, I will have a lesson prepared in advance that we will start once we've done our check in. Each of my sessions loosley follows the structure of the tutor cycle.
I have worked with every student immaginable at my job and I've had hundreds of tutoring sessions!

Really personable, easy to work with and encouraging. I came in with a paper that had been intimidating me and she helped piece through it and gave me a great formatting guide that made the whole process a breeze.
I really like Sophie! She's fun and easy to talk to, and also great at helping me with writing!! She has helped me with assignments from multiple classes and is good at explaining essay format and citations.
I work with Sophie at the writing center at my university and I visit her once I week. She's a great tutor and very flexible. We work on anything I want to do that week and she's able to meet all my needs. I really like working with Sophie because she never makes me feel bad about my writing.
