About Caroline
I have 20 years experience teaching English as a Second Language classes at adult schools.
I have California State Professional Credential since 1995.
I am always warm, friendly, flexible and fun.
I will adapt materials and teaching to your best learning style.
Every student can excel!
I discovered my love of teaching adults and college students when I tutored at a library in Central Los Angeles. Teaching, especially teaching people who are struggling with school, became a passion, a joy and a delight.
In addition to private tutoring, I have 20 years of experience teaching adult-level courses at Community Adult Schools in Los Angeles and Long Beach. I teach beginning and intermediate English classes and I have held a California State Professional Teaching Credential since 1995.

In our initial interview we'll determine your immediate and long-term needs and goals. We'll discuss any problems you're having with the subject, and I'll assess your learning style and, if needed, your English level. At our next meeting we'll begin with lessons tailored to your learning style and goals!
I've worked with adults getting their diploma in Community Adult Schools, high school students seeking credit recovery, beginner and intermediate students of English as a Second Language, and students practicing for their citizenship exam.
Learning English, or practicing writing, or studying for citizenship, is a vulnerable process. Please never accept a teacher who makes you feel dumb, or a teacher who can't adapt to your learning style or create lessons that meet your goals.
We had a graduation and promotion party at the end of the last school year, in my English as a Second Language program, where we took a thousand pictures in cap and gown, handed out diplomas, ate great food, and celebrated the extremely hard work and dedication of a wonderful group of adult learners! This annual event is the absolute best of the year.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would think about: 1) What you want to overcome, if you're struggling in a class, 2) How much you can practice skills we learn in our time together 3) How long you would like to work with a tutor, and whether you're interested in a a short-term goal like passing a writing test or citizenship test, or achieving a long-term goal like speaking English fluently.

For one-on-one tutoring in writing coaching or ESL: $45 per hour.
For English as a Second Language I can take groups of multiple students. This can be a great option to reduce your cost. Examples would be for two people, $50 per hour or three people: $60 per hour.
