About Marjorie
I have a passion for writing and for helping students communicate on paper. I use tried and true methods from brainstorming to finished product to help students be proud of their written work. I like to get to know my students, their strengths and challenges, So that I can tailor my lessons to them and give them the skills they need to be independent writers.
I have taught English, Composition, Grammar, and Spelling for over 20 years in middle school. I enjoy writing for pleasure.
I enjoys seeing students progress from frustrated, reluctant writers to writers who are confident and excited about learning and communicating
I was working in the environmental education field training teachers when I decided that I would flourish in the classroom.
I have a Bachelors Degree in English and a Masters Degree in Teaching. I have continued my professional development over the course of my 20 year teaching career.

I like to ask my students what they believe are their own strengths and challenges. I like to get an idea of their relationship with their teacher, and I give several choices for how to attack any problems. I try to make the writing process fun and creative.
I have worked with students from fourth graders through high school. Some of my students have been reluctant readers and writers, and others have been those who struggle with getting thoughts to paper. I have worked with children with diagnosed dyslexia and processing challenges.

I recently had a sixth grader who struggled with writing. I was thrilled to see his excitement about writing once we found his passion for history. At the end of the school year he was writing his own screen play with a friend.
