About Raechel

Hi! My name is Raechel and I love helping others succeed. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Applied Psychology, and am currently a Master's of Social Work student. Throughout my experience in academia, as well as internship experiences, I have had the opportunity to formally and informally tutor young children as well as adults (peers) in a variety of subjects. English, writing, proofreading, etc. are my strong suits. Over the years my writing aptitude has been immensely sharpened, and I take great joy in helping others improve their written communication skills by explaining concepts in a way that is easily understood. Additionally, I can help you with all Psychology related subjects as I have studied Psychology for many years, and have not only a great understanding of the topic, but a passion for sharing what I know with others. I'm an avid and continuing learner which sets me apart. You will always get 100% from me as I stay up to date with information and concepts to help you gain the most out of your sessions.

I take a patient, understanding approach when explaining different topics, and care just as equally about getting to know you and helping you to feel at ease. I like to begin by gaining an understanding of where you're at, what you're struggling with, you're learning style, etc., and from there we can figure out the best way to tutor you! I absolutely encourage questions, so at any point do not hesitate to ask for clarification or additional explanation as I am more than happy to help you better understand. I'm certain that I can help you in the same way as others who have expressed satisfaction as I have not only been able to provide easy to understand explanations, but also in a manner that is easy going and patient.

I enjoy knowing that I'm genuinely helping others to reach their greatest potential. I personally know what a confidence boost it is when you finally are able to understand a concept that you've been struggling with, and to finally "get" it is the greatest feeling. Having the ability to impart my knowledge to help someone attain the same is one of the most rewarding feelings.

About the lesson

The typical process I like to take when working with a new student is initially getting to know them as this is a great way to break the ice and become familiar with one another in developing a great working relationship.

I then like to ask questions to understand strengths and weaknesses. What areas are you struggling with? How do you learn best? Are there methods that absolutely don't work for you? What are you succeeding in? And so on... This helps me to best help you so we are both on the same page.

Additionally, I like to come up with goals together that we can work towards achieving in each session. It's important that this is a collaborative effort because if you (or the child) is invested, then success is inevitable. During this process we will discuss how sessions will be conducted according to what works best for you.
