About Sarah

Hi! I'm Sarah. I'm currently a PhD candidate in Rhetoric and Public Culture (Communication Studies) at Northwestern University. I received my MA in Literary and Cultural Studies (English) from Carnegie Mellon in 2017, and my BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago in 2008. I worked in college admissions at the University of Chicago for five years, in which time I evaluated thousands of college applications and essays for admission. I currently edit college essays in a freelance capacity, and have done so for the last four years with great success for my clients. I have taught Public Speaking at the undergraduated level for the last two years. My specialties are college essays, writing (essay and creative), rhetoric, literary analysis, and public speaking. I love getting to know students individually, helping them to turn ideas and thoughts that are important to them into a compelling essay, or helping them to gain confidence in their own abilities.

About the lesson

Typically I will exchange emails with a new student first to get a better understanding of what they're looking for, and under what sort of timeline. We will schedule an introductory phone call, sometimes with something to work on or an assignment or draft to discuss, once we in agreement about moving forward together.

I've worked with students from all over the country, from all different backgrounds, with different interests and goals! I'm very happy to work with any student who wishes to improve.
