About Rachel

- I am in my final year of college at Cleveland State University for Early Childhood Education

- I have worked in a day care setting, as well as taught and tutored students aged pk-5 for the past 4 years.

- I am passionate about helping students gain knowledge through learning and meaningful experiences

- Soon to be licensed k-5 teacher

-Experienced baby sitter and curriculum planner for children aged infant to 12 years old

-achieved Presidents list at CSU for 2020 & 2019, Dean's list at CSU for 2016-2018

I enjoy helping students gain knowledge and experience. I love to help facilitate the learning process for students as they experiment with new information.

I had a passion for teaching many years ago and decided to persue a degree in education.

I am finishing my last year of College to be a Licensed teacher for grades PK-5. I have also taught and worked with students in whole class, small groups and individually both in person and online.

About the lesson

A typical process would be initial conact. Making sure the tutoring would be a good fit for both parties. Deciding on meet times and hourly rate. Working with student to get initial progress and needs of student. Then working out how I may view work or concepts student needs help with to prep material to work on

I have worked with most types of students, those who are gifted, typically developing, and students with special needs such as speech impediments, ADHD, Downs Syndrome and more.

My advice would be to ask questions. Make sure the teacher you are trying to hire has experience with curriculum, standards, content and subjects for your grade. Also would be wise to see if the teacher has access to material or a plan to trade materials back and forth, especially since in person tutoring is not recommended currently.

A recent event I am fond of was meeting my students in my 1st grade room this year online for virtual learning. I was happy to see smiling faces from students even though the situation is currently difficult with online learning.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
- How can you help me better understand materials?

- How will you know what I need help with?

- Will I have to provide my own work only, or will there be supplemental material provided from the tutor too?

- How will you keep me engaged during tutoring?

- Will tutoring be interactive or worksheet based?
