About Kaitlin

Hello! I’m Kaitlin, and I’m excited to connect with you through my tutoring profile. With a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Virginia and 13 years of hands-on experience, I have dedicated my career to supporting students with diverse learning needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and more.

My expertise lies in creating tailored learning experiences for students, and I deeply believe that every learner has unique strengths. I specialize in reading, reading comprehension, and writing, using excellent virtual materials to make lessons both engaging and effective. By incorporating my students' interests into the learning process, I strive to make each session enjoyable and relevant.

I am certified in the Orton-Gillingham approach as well as the Science of Reading, which allows me to provide effective literacy instruction grounded in research-based practices. Additionally, I have completed a specialization in the K-12 Writing Process through Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced Studies, equipping me with the tools to help students improve their writing skills with confidence.

A core component of my teaching philosophy is the incorporation of a growth mindset. I aim to cultivate resilience, confidence, and a genuine love for learning in each of my students, encouraging them to embrace challenges and view setbacks as opportunities for growth.
