About Stacey

I'm a middle grades teacher who taught in the classroom setting as well as homeschool veteran. I really believe 1on1 teaching to be the most effective way to teach and improve a student's understanding and performance. I'm prepared to assess and implement a personalized plan for each individual student. My subject concentrations are in Language Arts, Math, and Science 4th -8th grade. But I'm very comfortable to teach K-8 math, reading comprehension, and writing. I charge $25 per hour. I can concentrate on 1 subject or multiple subjects, if needed.

I enjoy seeing the progress students make and choosing the right curriculum and strategy to teach each person. No 2 students are the same,therefore I will seek to understand their individual personality, learning style, and strength's as well as weaknesses'.

Both of my homeschool students did very well at Dunlap High School and excelled on their ACT. I will apply the experience I've gained by instructing my students one on one to those I tutor.

I have a BS in Middle Grades Education from the University of West Georgia. Three years experience as a classroom teacher. As well as experience in 1 on 1 teaching as a veteran home schooler of 11 years. I also taught 7 th grade science for Tri-County Enrichment Co-op for 5 years. During those years I co-directed the Co-Op for 2 years.
Also being a mom is helpful to meet students where they are and move them forward.

About the lesson

I will want to have a short conversation with the parent or guardian of the student by zoom or FaceTime if possible. If not, a phone call will be helpful to determine what he/she is looking for in a tutor and the needs of the student.

At our first session I will get to know the student, administer an assessment, and do some simple grade appropriate activities.

After the 1st session I will gather materials I need to move that particular student forward. I may require the parent or guardian to purchase a workbook or other necessities.

We will then proceed with weekly or biweekly sessions. There may be some homework also.

I have worked with a wide range of students. From special education students who need extra help to very bright students who need a regular challenge to stay interested. And everyone in between those 2 levels.

I will develop a plan for any student based on their needs, learning style and motivation.

Details

I will be charging $25 per hour for tutoring. Plus any materials I need to order for the student. I will discuss any order with the parent or guardian before I place an order.
