About Sheila

There is something so daunting when you are tasked with the job of having to read or write and it's such a struggle and you don't know where to begin. Maybe it's that fear of knowing that you are going to be next to read and you read the paragraph before it's your turn so that you won't make any mistakes and people won't laugh at you. My job as a tutor is to teach you the skills that you need so that you will be able to read fluently and with accuracy. I'm here to help you comprehend and understand what you read. I am trained to help you learn how to write paragraphs so that when you are given writing assignments you will be able to write the essays.

I am a credentialed teacher and I have also been trained in Slingerland which is a simultaneous, multisensory instructional method to help children learn to read, write and spell. I have worked as an educator for over 15 years.

I love helping students learn to read and write. Working with students that struggle with reading is something that I'm passionate about because reading is such an important part of a person's life. I love it when I can give my students the "keys" to reading and they learn how to read. It is amazing to watch the growth and to see them blossom.
