Great advice, huh? But what if you need help turning on the faucet? Perhaps the words do not flow as effortlessly as water for you as they did for Mr. L' Amour. Are writers born with the talent for wordsmithing or can the skill be developed despite one's aversion to the written word?
After twenty years of studying and teaching writing, speech, English, and grammar, I have discovered that great writing is within the reach of every student.
Hello. My name is Sharon Simmons. I am an avid reader, writer, life-long learner, homeschooling mother, teacher, tutor, and Information Assistant with the JSU Little River Canyon Center in Fort Payne, AL.
I believe every learner is unique and individually talented and I love being a participant in helping to unlock, develop, and strengthen each student's inate voice.

When first working with a new student, I like to begin by defining what the goals are for the learner. Is it of primary importance to learn sentence structure, improve grammar, know how to develop a thesis statement, structure a cohesive essay, or learn how to analyze literature? Every learning goal, and learner, is individual. The first step is always to learn about the learner, then help the learner achieve their goal.
