About Seth

My first tutoring experience came while I was still a student at Morehouse College. There, I served as a Vanguard Instructor. In my role, I was responsible for providing my peers with academic support in the areas of essay writing, test-taking, and study habits. In the main, most students who sought my students saw immediate improvement the in their academic performance in across various disciplines.

I gained further tutoring experience as a law student at the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law. During my time there, I assisted my student-colleagues with understanding the mechanics of legal writing and complex legal concepts in subjects such as Real Property, Civil Procedure, and Wills, Estates and Trusts. Those who I tutored found me to be very helpful and often recommended my services to other students.

All in all, with more that 7 years of tutoring experience, I am confident that I can make a palpable impact in any student’s life. What makes me so effective is that I know how to adapt my teaching-style to fit my student’s learning style, which, I believe is one of the most important aspect of tutoring. If you select me as your tutor, you won’t be disappointed!

There have been several times during my educational progression where I needed tutoring. My tutors helped my develop not only an understanding of the material, but they also imbued me with confidence necessary to remain dillegent in my study. But for me having tutor at various point during my educational progression, I probably would not be where am I am today. Simply, I enjoy tutoring because after several years of schooling, I find that it is a good way to give back as I move forward in my career.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, the first thing that I do is do an assessment. This consists of me learning more about my students academic challenges, acertaining their learning-style, and establishing goals for the overall tutoring experience. I find this approach to be very helpful because I do not believe in a "one size fits all". Each student is different, and by taking time to learn their differences, I can be a more effective tutor.
