About Robert

I have been working for Fortune 500 companies since 1997. My area of expertise is Information Technology. I am a network engineer by trade. Part of working in corporate America is sitting in lots of meetings and speaking the corporate lingo.

My wife is from the Philippines, and I have helped her perfect her English. She says I have the clearest English she has ever heard. I attribute this to having spent a large part of my life traveling the world. People who travel tend to develop a very location neutral English. When I return to where I was born and raised (Louisville, KY), I am reminded of the thick accent I used to have (and can still switch to).

If you have ever struggled to understand an English speaker's accent, you probably won't have that problem with me. I have a very neutral English base, which I attribute to years of travel. It also helps that one of my passions is studying languages. I am proficient with German and Italian.

I first started teaching English while living in Cebu, Philippines in 2009. I worked for small English school called Filinter. I loved the experience and I have been working with private students ever since.

Not only do I have formal English teaching experience in a classroom setting, but I have worked in corproate America for 20+ years. Whether you're looking to master daily spoken English, or the naunces of English in a corporate setting, I can help you achieve fluency.

About the lesson

Although I can accommodate the method of your choice, I prefer to use the direct method of speaking English and learn naturally. There is no better way to become proficient than by doing. I can identify your mistakes and coach you to perfection.

I have worked mostly with Asian students. My wife is from the Philippines, and I have traveled back and forth from Asia since 2005.

I think it's easier to learn from someone who speaks clear and concise. Not everyone from the U.S. does. I take great pride in the clarify of my English. Many students have told me I was their easiest teacher to understand.
