About Porsha

I am looking to participate in tutoring in order to become a better teacher who is equipped with the skills and strategies that will provide students with a holistic learning experience. My participation will allow me the opportunity to take a closer look at my pedagogy and philosophy to ensure that I am doing all that I can to impart knowledge and love to my students.

In addition to assisting students obtain knowledge, I want to become a personal tutor as I am still interested in learning everything there is to learn about my field and the education process. After obtaining my master's degree in technology for education, I still feel as though there is so much more that I can learn and even more that I can contribute to the field of English Language Arts and education. It is my aim to continue to teach in low socioeconomic disadvantaged areas where I once learned, so I can be a constant reminder to my community and my students that learning is a lifelong pursuit.

Finally, I want to learn new and exciting ways to engage my students while developing standards driven lessons. It is my aim to get to a place where the students will take their rightful place in front of the classroom and teach one another through project-based, student-centered learning. My students and my community are the driving force. Ultimately, I would like to learn more about the way that I teach, so I may have the opportunity to correct, revisit, revise, and grow.

What makes me an outstanding English tutor is that I am 100% genuine and real. Most individuals who tutor do not come with the real world life experiences that I have, which assist in showings today is the practicality of English.

So, why should you choose me when there are so many other tutors here? I say go with something different. I choose a person that you have not encountered before because obviously the people that you have haven’t been successful in conveying the content that you need to learn. Take a chance on the dreaded English teacher.

I started teaching because I noticed through my own education that there weren't enough teachers who thought differently. There weren't enough teachers who win against the grain and touch in manners that with others would deem unorthodox. I got into teaching in order to give children/students a different way to learn.

I hold in English education associates of arts degree, and English education bachelors of arts degree and a Masters of education in technology. All of my degrees together allows me to be a strong and knowledgeable tutor in the online platform. I have also been trained in most learning management systems as well as all G suites.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is to understand the student's needs and what it is that I can do for him or her. It is important to begin with a relationship and to work our way into content. In my experience students learn best from individuals whom they believe care about them and for whom they care.

I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of students. I have worked with the very low students in secondary in post secondary school who struggled with reading comprehension to the highest students who excel in AP lit.
