About Payton

Hello! As a current student at the University of Montana majoring in English Education, I am extremely passionate about this subject. I love to try a variety of different approaches to help my students learn, understand, and navigate the subject of English. I like to look at Enlgish as something that can always be related back to our own lives. It helps one reflect on who they are and the world around them. In my experience of working with students, I have found that allowing them to relate to the subject and think critically about the material presented is very effective in moving forward to a better understanding of English.

I am very comfertable in all areas of English, especially that of essay writing/editing, poetry, analyzing text, and also public speaking. I have nearly four years of experience in both teaching and coaching high school students and look forward t0 the many opportunities that come!

I love getting to know my students and seeing them feel more and more comfertable with what they are learning. It is absolutely rewarding when you start to see a student begin to think critically about who they are. English has such potential to allow one to understand themselves better and it is always tremendous when my students ecnounter this.

I am only 21-years-old but have a great deal of experience with the subject of English. I have been around it my whole life and am very passionate about it. I believe there is something to do with English in everything that we do. I have been involved in Speech and Debate, writing poetry, writing stories, writing music, and also teaching how to do these things throughout my young life. It is something I have grown to love and I am open to every opportunity I get to help my students learn about this subject.

About the lesson

It all starts with getting to know each student as an individual. I believe it is vital to understand that each student is different and that they learn in different ways and at different paces. I enjoy the process of getting to know my students and in turn allowing them to get to know me. It helps for me to better understand how they learn and it makes them more comfertable with the material.

I would say that it is extremely important to ask questions. It is vital to make sure that the person you are potentially hiring knows what you need and also what you expect to learn. It is also essential to ask questions because it helps you get a feel for who your potential tutor is. It allows you to get to know who your potential tutor is and what they are like as teachers. It is very important that you feel comfertable and confident with your tutor and one step in doing this is to not be afraid to ask questions or tell them exactly what you need.
