About Jordan
A recent graduate of Yale University with a degree in English and History with honors, I have experience teaching and mentoring students of all ages. I am passionate about spreading knowledge and accessibility to higher education, and I believe that the college admissions essay is the key to a smooth admissions process. I take the time to make sure that the student is being showcased in their application essay, and hope that our working together will make them more excited about the otherwise daunting process that is college admissions.
I enjoy watching my students aim high and apply themselves in ways that they may not have explored prior to our working together. Watching students, especially those who are heading to college, learn more about themselves while writing their college admissions essay is an inexplicably rewarding process. Learning how to verbalize the feelings they have and create an arching yet simultaneously minimally-worded essay is worth the work and effort, and usually said work and effort are reflected in their admissions decisions.
I studied English and History at Yale University. I have also advised both of my younger siblings throughout their college application process, and both of them were accepted into all schools that they applied to. I am currently an ESL remote tutor, where I teach students English grammar and syntax, as well as vocabulary.

For college admissions essays, we will start with a consultation, where the student will talk me through all of their previous commitments and extracurricular activities. We will talk about potential topics, about themes, and about overall goals: How do we want the student to come across in this essay? I will ask the student to come up with more ideas on their own, including detailed vignettes, and when we reconvene, we will work toward drafting a more complete version of what will eventually be their admissions essay.
