About Amanda
The writing you do is not just to turn in an assignment. It allows a person who cannot see you, to truly understand your intelligence, intellect, talents and abilities. It allows you to show off what you know and truly impress professors, teachers and even your colleagues! I love helping turn "ordinary" writers into "extra-ordinary" writers! Let's jump in!
I have lived in 9 different states in the United States of America and have encountered many different languages and accents along the way. I LOVE to help people learn to speak, read and write English. I love to learn new things and consider myself a lifetime learner. I am currently taking classes in Italian Language, and Photography just for fun at the junior college.
I have been editing for two blogs for over three years and have by Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from Strayer University D.C. I have worked in the finance world for over 10 years and understand the importance of a strong ability to express thoughts by writing.
I was actually assigned to be the corporate trainer on several projects at work and found out I actually LOVED it! I also was a youth group leader on my volunteer time and loved working with teenagers as well. It was not the career that I sought out, but I have found it to be very rewarding and fun.
Besides my 10 years experience in Business Finance, and my Degree, I also have been a corporate trainer for many assignments over my 10 years in corporate life. I have enjoyed every single one of these experiences and have made life-long friends along the way. Tutoring is just a natural extension of what I already do in my day-to-day workplace.

I prefer to start with a Zoom meeting or another face-to-face platform where we can get to know each other, and access what is needed to help each individual student. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video chat is worth a million! We can discuss what part of language and writing is the challenge, and exactly how we plan to correct it. Making a strategy with each student together as a team makes the student feel like they will be much more successful.
I have worked with children as young as 5 years, and all the way up to college students above age 45!
I would tell my student to take a deep breath and relax. Every single person can learn something hard. It just takes many small steps towards the big goal. As long as the little progress is moving forward, and you are having FUN in the meantime, YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!
I was recently giving a lesson at my community youth group. I knew that one particular young man was going to be there that really loves to be the "class clown". I purposely included strange facts and statistics that this particular "smarty-pants" would not have already known. It was so fun to see him engaged and learning a subject he already thought he knew everything about!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Timing. I know that may seem like a strange answer, but every individual learns at a different pace. Some students may tear through learning material at the speed of light, but some students get stumped and need more time on a specific subject. If I was the student, I would ask how the teacher handles it when different timing issues arise, because they usually do.

My sessions start at $25 per hour unless the student is currently enrolled at University. I am known to be an extremely patient and understanding tutor who knows that sometimes we have to switch teaching styles mid-stream to be successful. I have no problem doing this and actually love the personal mental stimulation this provides. My rate for University Students is $50 per hour. I am an expert on teaching this particular type of student how to quickly access the research materials necessary for them to assemble term papers expertly.
