I believe that all children can learn, some just need to be shown a different path. I have been working with children from birth through High School as a volunteer and professional in many capacities for over 25 years. One of my greatest joys is seeing a student find the key to open the door to a problem that seemed impossible.

As a Girl Scout volunteer, I have taught basic science, ecology and environmental courses as well as CPR / First Aid throughout the Metropolitan Chicago Area. Girls have benefited from my knowledge of Women's History, American History, and Music as well as sewing, cooking and service to others. I have earned the awards Women of the Century and Honor Pin.

My experience teaching Early Childhood includes over 18 years of work with toddlers through preschool age children. I hold the IL Gateways Credentials for teaching Birth - age 3, Preschool and Director as well as an IL Teaching Liscence Type - 04 (Birth - Grade 3) with ELL Endorsement. I am currently teaching PK at St. Agnes of Bohemia School in Chicago where I also serve our Special Education students on the RTI team.

I love the look on a student's face when something they struggle with becomes clear. It is also a joy to see children discover new interests and ideas.

I have been working with children in either a volunteer or professional capacity for most of my life. My studies led me to earn a teaching liscence late in life and move from teaching in childcare centers to a school.

IL Type - 04 Teaching Liscence (Birth - Grade 3)

Over 150 Hours of Professional Development in Special Education, Reading, and basic Mathematics.

Experience of over 25 years working with youth as a Girl Scout volunteer.

About the lesson

I would like to meet with you in person to discuss your needs and expectations. We will then work out a schedule that fits.

As a Girl Scout volunteer, I have taught team building, outdoor skills, songs and games to girls from kindergarten to high school. My girls have come from varied ethniticities and socio - economic levels. As a preschool teacher, I worked with children in La Grange, Maywood, Stickney, Berwyn and surrounding communities. Currently, I teach 3 - 5 year old preschool at St. Agnes of Bohemia School in Little Village. While I do not speak Spanish fluently, I am qualified in ESL and have worked with students who have limited English language ability.

I would decide exactly what I am looking for as a general goal. To state "improvement" makes it difficult to plan for your success. If you state that you wish to "find a way to make reading enjoyable", it is easier to make the needed decisions.

In our Girl Scout troop at St. Agnes, we had a 5th grade girl who did not like to speak in public and had trouble reading. She worked on a badge that had a componant requiring a presentation. I helped her create a poster that she could use for the presentation that combined her reading comfort level with quality materials so that she could complete the requirement and present it to the other girls.
