About Allison

I’m a current student at Ripon College majoring in music education. I have about a decade of flute experience, and have received lessons from some of the most amazing flute performers in the Midwest. I have a lot that I have learned that I am willing to give to others. On top of that, I am very patient and do well with beginner players.

Everything about music makes me happy honestly. That’s why I’m choosing it as my future career. I want to be able to teach students to enjoy and love all types of music the same way I was able to discover. On top of that, flute is one of the most diverse instruments in any band or orchestra setting. It has one of the most vast repertoire’s, and the music for flute can be some of the oldest in the world. There’s so much to discover here, I hope everyone is excited in the rich history flute has to offer.

I have over a decade of personal playing experience. On top of that, I have had four separate flute lessons providers in the past. They were hosted by my high school or college for me to learn from. Some of which, are the most gifted performers I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I have also made it to state solo & ensemble in high school for three of my four years. On piccolo, I have been playing for over three years.

About the lesson

I do have my own beginner flute students may use if they don’t have their own yet. I start students off by learning about the different parts of the flute and some important care of the instrument before playing. Once we start playing, we start with making sure the student can create and hold a proper embouchure. After that will work on airflow and breath support, and then will work on the intricacies of playing actual notes.

Details

Depending on how new the student is to playing flute, and what kind of attention they need from me in practice, my rates will change. Usually with beginner players, I start with a very relaxed rate of $10 an hour, and allow parents or students to cancel anytime they wish. That way if the student ends up not enjoying the instrument, there is no obligation to continue lessons. However with the more advanced student, my rates will increase as they need more from me in each lesson. Any lesson will never go over $20 an hour.
