About John michael

My teaching career spans 35 years. I have trained players that are complete beginners to PGA professionals... I've trained men and women, juniors and seniors, right handed and left handed players, recreational players, high school golf team players, college team players and professionals.

My specialty is working with "Junior Players" interested in competition. I have trained students that have played on the US Kids Tour, the Junior PGA Tour, High School Matches, the Challenge Cup, the AJGA, and the FCWT. One of my high school students was the #1 team player all 4 years. He attended Coastal Carolina and graduated the PGM program (Professional Golf Management) at the Coastal Carolina University and ultimately received his PGA membership. There were many proud moments where students became #1 players on their respective high school golf teams. One student in particular shot par at age 9, qualified for the US kids World Championships in Pinehurst, NC, qualified for the 31st Annual Publix Junior Golf Classic held at President's Trump's Doral Resort & Spa, Miami, FL, and was awarded the MIAA Player of the Year 2014, he also Medals in the State Qualifier, and finished in the top 5 in the State Tournament. Another student was the only female on the high school team, was awarded a $25K scholarship to New York University.

Please note: We are getting very close to high school golf team try-outs. (generally in August). So any player desiring to compete and try-out for the team and needs to sharpen their swing should get together with me as soon as possible. It will take a few lessons and some practice time to have you confident to ready to try-out and to be a competitive player. Don't be the player is 'cramming for the exam" last minute and expecting to do well... A good swing takes time to develop.

As the Player Development Coach for the Manchester Essex high school golf team I am proud to say the team won 3 league titles and finished 6th in a field 15 for the State Tournament. Some of my aspiring professionals have gone on to college golf teams some have past their Players Ability Test to qualify for PGA membership. I've worked with many adult and senior players some have competed and won their club championships.

For the past 16 years I have enhanced my training by utilizing high tech computer aided training systems which have been a boom to gaining proficiency in a short time... Launch Monitors, High Speed Video and Golf Simulators... These systems have helped players shorten their learning time with great results.

Many years ago I was told I needed "Tempo"... This put me on a path to find a method to capture this elusive entity... Luckily, I did find a way to harness this elusive entity, and you can find it in my book... "TEMPO...Heartbeat of the Golf Swing"... You will get copy with your first lesson or you can pick one on your own from Amazon.com books.

Whether beginner or professional, I will analyze your current situation, give you in simple terms, what you need to advance your golf skills. You will need to do some practice, but you knew that... It will take practice to gain the height of your happiness with your game. You will be amazed at how fast you will advance working with me and the high tech computer aided training systems like launch monitors which track ball flight data, course simulation which will enhance your on course skills and motion video that will hone your technical swing techniques to a high level.

In 1988 I had an injury, three bones moved in my neck pinched a nerve and limited the use of my left hand.

After 2 years of therapy my Chiropractor advised I take up golf to build up my left arm. For a year I hit 600 golf balls everyday 5 days a week. I finally started putting the ball where I wanted it. I then changed careers and worked in at vairous golf courses, and became members of multiple golf leagues. Started teaching relatives, friends and associates, they all improved and suggested that I start teaching as a professional. In 1992 I became a teaching professional and continue to teach to this date.

Your first lesson can be an overall evaluation, of grip, posture, stance, alignment, swing techniques, TEMPO, mental approach, evaluate equipment and plan training program.

Or we can work any of your specific needs to bring your game to the level you are seeking.

Subsequent sessions will address your training program, with procedures for grip, stance/posture, alignment, putting, on course strategy and on course play.

Or the first lesson could be your "Basic Introduction" where I will establish the basics to get you started...we'll go over the procedure to how to place your hands on the club properly, how to get aligned to a target, set the proper distance from the target line, TEMPO and go over the different swing types, the different clubs in the bag and a basic course overview.

I am currently working one on one with Adult and Junior players. My specialty is working with juniors desiring to compete on their high school golf teams and junior players interested in joining the local Junior PGA Tour.

Some players have used golf as entry to college one student received a $25,000 scholarship to NYU another is the #4 college player on the Middlebury Golf Team another gained Professional status as a member of the PGA.

I have trained many #1 players on their respective high school golf teams. I have worked as the Player Development Coach for the Manchester/Essex High School Golf Team. My expertise includes training PGA Professionals as well as single digit players trying to shave off the last few strokes towards a plus handicap.

I've worked with Beginner players, desiring an introduction to the game as well a Intermediate players desiring to lift their game to a higher level. I've helped senior men and women improve their game.

Golf is a roller coaster ride at best, there will be ups and downs and all arounds, but in order to enjoy it each player must have and even minded approach, not to get too high on the good shots and not to get too low on the not so good shots, but notice I said "good" and "not so good" every shot is good in golf just some more "gooder" then others...just realize that golf is a game, you cannot win or lose, you can only play the game. Remember golf is a game for a lifetime, you have the rest of your life to learn, practice, play, meet people in all your travels... There will never be a dull moment being involved in golf.

One student, Ben, 9 years old shot 72 to par the course and win the USKids Boston Tour Players Championship, a two day event marked by rain both days. Ben was tied the first day with 5 players shoothing 37...the second day he fell coming off a hill right into a huge puddle and was drenched, cold and shervering, and he still was able to mount a charge to shoot 35 and win the championship by 5 strokes...Ben was a teachers delight!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Are you willing to let go of all the things you have read or what friends have told you?

Are you open minded to accept new information?

Are you willing to practice?

Are you willing to get out of your comfort zone?

Are you able to be persistant with something that may seen difficult on the road to achieving your golfing goals?
