About Devin
I am a freelance editor and proofreader with a near masters in linguistics. My specialty is in phonology, and I have some practical TESOL experience, though no certification. I can help explain syntax, grammar, and usage with a genuine understanding, and I understand the intricacies of teaching pronunciation even for sounds that are difficult for you to produce. I offer my expertise and patience to my students. My goal is for my students to have noticeable results and increased confidence.
BA in Linguistics from UT Arlington with most coursework for MA. I have experience with language documentation projects. I was trained in theoretical linguistics in the generativist approach. My work is primarily in phonology and morphophonology.

Graduate linguistics students and some undergrads.
Linguistics is a complex field with many different areas of focus and even approaches. Make sure the prospective tutor is experienced with the school of linguistics in your program: if you are studying applied linguistics, hiring a theoretical generativist may help but will be less helpful than another applied linguist. Pay attention to your areas of weakness and the focus of the tutor: if you struggle with syntax, a semanticist may be less effective a tutor.
