About Alyssa

I have been trained by the University of Massachusett's Writing and Reading Center and performed hours of tutoring sessions with students. I am available online or in-person and give quick and thorough feedback.

I love being writing, and getting to tutor gives me both a chance to practice and grow in my own abilities but also to foster that same love in other students. Writing is the main form of communication in today's increasingly tech-driven world and it is important that everyone can write in a variety of settings and styles

Throughout high school and freshmen year of college, I frequently tutored friends, siblings, and younger students. In my sophomore year, I was hired by the Writing and Reading Center as a tutor for the university.

I accomplished hours of training by the UMass Dartmouth Writing and Reading Center before beginning tutoring. Every week after we had training hours on top of our tutoring sessions. I also received high grades in Intermediate Writing in Political Science and written numerous papers for top grades.

About the lesson

I always like to establish a good rapport first. Then we talk about writing goals in general, specific goals for the assignment, go over the assignment, and then dive into the writing. Tutoring is a discussion and a time of collaboration and encouragement, not direct teaching. We will work together to come up with ideas, formulate outlines, go over grammar, and final editing. In the end, we will go over what still needs to be done, make future plans, and make sure all meeting goals were met.

I have worked with high school students, undergraduates, and graduate students. With university students, I worked largely with social science and liberal arts essays but am trained in a variety of styles.
