About Qui-Ona

We tailor lessons based on student goals with a focus on playing songs and integrating music theory as we go along .

We enjoy teaching enthusiastic students who are eager to learn! We love passing along out knowledge of music and theory to passionate students looking for a creative release of self expression!

I started out teaching family members children along with children of families I nannied for back in 2010-2014.I continent to grow my roster to full time in August 2017 until current with room to add more.

Qui-Ona Peterson is an Atlanta Institute of Music graduate of the Audio Engineering and Music Production program, with core curriculum in guitar and piano. Her very first instrument was the violin, which she picked up in 4th grade orchestra, gaining a love for classical music that would continue throughout her life. She has been playing guitar and keys since 2008, and gained her teaching experience while working for Hands On Atlanta and Outward Bound Atlanta, where she was a math and reading tutor and alternative education service leader. While there, Qui-Ona and her teammates instructed various after-school clubs at several schools around Atlanta for grades K-9, including guitar, chess, gardening, and math. Qui-Ona offers private guitar and piano lessons to students of all ages, and also has been active as a performer, playing R&B and Hip Hop and folks songs throughout the Atlanta area.

Qui-Ona wrote her first song at the age of 7, and has been writing songs and poems steadily since 2007. She has also had the pleasure of serving as a nanny in Decatur, GA, gave lessons in guitar, keyboarding, and songwriting as a part of her work with the children. Qui-Ona prides herself on having a diverse background in music, and enjoys all styles and genres, with a particular love for guitar, keys, big pop vocals, and creativity.

Qui-Ona wants every student to be able to use their understanding of music theory and their own individual uniqueness as a basis for exploring self expression, freedom, and inspiration. She helps her students learn by first exploring what their interests are, creating a curriculum with the student's visions and goals as a determining factor, and using encouragement and fun assignments to keep students engaged in constantly learning new techniques.
