About Abbe

Hello! Nice to meet you! I'm Abbe Pennington and I LOVE music! I especially love teaching it! I am so passionate about how music is such an essential part of our lives and such an important piece of how we express ourselves. I have been playing various instruments (mostly piano) for upwards of 17 years, and I've been teaching for about 8 years, and I hope to be able to teach you all that I know! I want to show you how you can use your musical talent to benefit others as well as yourself.

I started teaching my siblings in the comfort of my own home, and then I started reaching out in my community and started teaching lessons, and finally online where I started teaching video/zoom lessons.

I am currently getting my Bachelors in Music Business, and I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old :) I'm now 23 and I plan on having my own music studio when I graduate college.

About the lesson

I try to assess what their current skill level is, and what kind of music you want to learn. I also like to ask my students how they are with technique and auditory skills as well as rhythm and general music theory.

I have worked with pretty much every age from 4-18, and I've also worked with special ed kids.

I would say practice makes progress. I also think that having the right kind of mentor is important. It's important to have a teacher who adapts to YOU and your learning style. It goes a little bit both ways, but if you are my student, I am going to teach you the way you learn best.

I love to perform, and there is a open mic night at my local pizza shop that I love to go perform at. I love to bring my guitar and just play and sing!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
You should ask them how they will teach you. I think you should also consider asking what goals you can set together to ensure that you are successful. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with everything you have to learn, especially if you are starting from the beginning, but taking the time to sit down and come up with daily goals, weekly goals and monthly goals is key when looking for a teacher as well as learning any new skill.
