About Bryson

I am a 16-year-old musician that would like to teach guitar for beginner guitarists. I also play the viola, violin, and vocals. I write songs with guitar and without. I have participated in worship groups, bands, and orchestras across Georgia and have traveled as far as New York City and Britsh Columbia to either study or perform. I have been playing for almost 10 years now and would love to share my passion for music with others. I also have had past students who are now playing for churches and schools locally.

My teaching style is very personal to the student: first, I make sure that this instrument is the best fit for them, and if they will still push on through any difficulties. I also am very flexible with the students: meaning that their lessons are very personalized to their level. I try to bring in learning tools that helped me learn in the past and strategies to become a better guitarist. Lastly, I love to form a friendly connection with the students, so that they are comfortable with me as a teacher and that they would be able to tell me their difficulties either emotionally or musically.

I form this type of relationship because I am a Christian, I believe that there is no better way of connecting with someone and being able to pass on knowledge and a passion for something without having that passion myself. The reason I started to learn was not for money, or fame, it was because it was something that both glorified God and something I enjoy. Now, I use music to express my emotions and communicate them to others. That is my goal with my students.

About the lesson

Normally I try to take the first lesson to give an introduction to the instrument and getting comfortable with it. For the next couple of lessons, I would get the hands prepared for making chord shapes. Next, we would practice switching and transitioning between chords. Then we would work on songs, and if the student sings, we would practice singing while playing. Then we would get into reading music and tablature, then combining chords with tablature. With that, we could work on different playing styles and genres but the student must find the sound they like the best.
