About Patrick

Educated in Electric, Acoustic, and Classical Guitar. Went to school for Classical Guitar. 15 years in performance,

I enjoy music and the arts above all. As far as work is concerned, never been much for working for nothing at the end. I enjoy building, so, as a teacher I give building blocks and essential skills so the student may grow and build themselves up to make a better life.

I had been performing for art galleries and festivals while being a house musician for a small cafe in New London, CT. Taught a couple friends here and there. First suggestion was after working with a couple "new to the scene" performers and helping them get over stage fright, when one friend suggested I actually do teaching rather than favors for friends and 'showing someone a couple things' So put an ad out and got a couple students, who progressed impressively, up until I left CT and moved to Colorado.

Studied Blues and Jazz improvisation with private instructor in Connecticut for a few years, started Classical introduction before relocating. After relocating, studied Classical and Flamenco Guitar with Brazilian Master Guitarist, Dennis Hill. Upon returning to CT, studied at Connecticut College Observatory for Classical guitar.

About the lesson

Start with what they have knowledge of and what they want to get out of their intstrument. Work scales and technique around their interest so they get to know their instrument off of the music that inspires them, add familiarity. After basic technique and theory is familiarized, then branch out with relative music that they may have not listened to freely or heard before to further grow styles.

From children who have never played a guitar beside strumming open strings to some good players who are either looking for something new to learn so they don't get bored. People who know their guitar up and down but want to learn Music Theory.

Be willing to learn what is offered, you may not see a reason at first but generally it will coincide with what you ultimately want from your education, there is always time after to decide whether it's really what you need or not.

Details

I generally do $25 for a half hour lesson and $50 for hour long. Not too big into group lessons unless students have prior teaching and a main goal is set for the lesson.
