About Matt

With 25 years teaching experience from grades K-college, a dual certification in English and social studies, and a masters in education, I am ready to fulfill all your tutoring needs in the following areas: English, writing, history, political science, geography, essay and paper writing, and study skills. You need not worry: you will get the results you are after.

The main thing is simply that I love teaching! I fell into the profession about 25 years ago and just found I was really good at it, and loved it. I am a proud member of a family with many educators.

I actually started subbing and found out I loved the kids. I also loved teaching. It feels good to educate people and to be part of such an important profession. After 25 years I still love it.

Masters in Education

25 years experience teaching grades 7-12 and college-level history classes

Dual-certication in English and social studies

About the lesson

Step one: PRE-ASSESS. Find out student strengths and areas for improvement.

Step two: BUILD A RAPPORT!

Step three: DESIGN A LESSON WITH CLEAR OUTCOMES.

Step four: DELIVER THE INSTRUCTION. BE PASSIONATE, CLEAR, AND USE MANY SOURCES!

Step five: ASSESS! MAKE SURE STUDENTS ARE LEARNING!

Step six: REFLECT AND GIVE ASSIGNMENTS FOR NEXT TIME!

All types! I believe it takes all types of learning styles to make the world go 'round!

Make sure you are getting results. I can give you expert instruction and expert results. This is my job and I know what I am doing. Rapport and personal connection is critically important.

I love cats (I have four of them). As cats go, one of them is really clumsy (odd, I know). He tried to jump up on my bed, slipped, and I had to "rescue him!"

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Why do I need help? How important is my education to me? Do I see education as the most important factor in self-improvement? How much effort and I ready to put in?
