About Knox

Music is a fantastic journey and lifelong pursuit. I strive to facilitate a positive relationship with you and music no matter what style or instrument you are interested in. With over 17 years of playing experience and two degrees, I have worked tirelessly at acheiving my musical goals. I am primarily a guitarist but am capable on the bass guitar, violin and piano. I am also avidly interested in music production and have produced a number of albums and other musical projects during my own musical journey. I enjoy being involved in music in any capacity. Teaching is especially fun given that I not only get to interact with someone musically, but also witness their growth over time. Improving in the artistic realm is incredibly satisfying. I love being a part of that growth in other musicians.

I began teaching when I was still in highschool by offering private guitar lessons to students at the school.

I have a Bachelor of Music from UNC Chapel Hill in Guitar performance as well as a Masters degree in Audio Technology from American University.,

About the lesson

Lessons with me always start by hearing the students specific goals and interests. From there I develope a combination of technique intensive and creative excercises that are necessary to reach those goals. I always like to make sure that my students are not only improving, but having fun knowing that the work they are doing is related to their own interests and not something that I am imposing on them.

I have worked with a very wide age and ability range of students. I've had beginners as young as 5 years old, advanced guitarists in their late teens/early twenties, a multitude of highly skilled adults and everything in between.

Be on the lookout for a teacher who is committed to your growth rather than showing off. There are a lot of teachers with big egos who will shred for you the entire lesson but never listen to what you have to play or say. A valuable teacher will listen more than they play while reserving those moments of virtuosity for when they are requested by you.

I typically offer three different levels of lesson options. 1 hour = 50$, 45 minutes for 40$ and 30 minutes for 25$
