About Andy

“Andy Browne was a teenager when his band The Nightporters lit up Atlanta’s punk scene in the 1980s. Touring with R.E.M. and the Replacements, a true highlight for the band was sharing the stage with The Clash at the Fox Theatre in 1984. There’s a wild and rich history of Atlanta music that’s anchored in the legacy of The Nightporters– Tim Nielsen and Paul Lenz would join Kevin Kinney to form Drivin N Cryin “...

Podcast with Chad Radford ( Music Editor)“Andy Browne and Lucy Theodora of the Andy Browne Troupe recently checked in for a CL podcast. On the heels of releasing the group’s latest single, “Jane Goodall, Lucy and Andy delved into punk philosophy, their fascination with primates, and what their next move may be. Press play!”

“Elephants” Reviews“The inclusion of horns and synth pads adds an unexpected fullness to the arrangements, and are key components in the bridging of so many genres. Andy’s vocals are reminiscent of Paul Westerberg with hints of David Bowie, always mixed up front and mostly devoid of effects.”

“There’s a bit of foreshadowing in the opening track from the Andy Browne Troupe’s latest LP, Elephants. On “England,” over a hypnotic synth line, Browne namechecks a slew of greats – everyone from T Rex and Bowie to The Clash and The Beatles. He could just as easily be listing off his influences as brief snatches of most can be heard throughoutElephants, a textbook example of a great rock record that somehow refuses to be pinned down to one specific sub-genre.”
