About Henry

I got my first taste of teachxing anything at PlanetBravo Technotainment Camp in Los Angeles, helping teach kids computer and video game programming after having been a camper myself. Although my interests and skills have since shifted, the experience and joy has stuck with me, and I seek to apply my current knowledge base to new students.

I graduated UConn with a History degree and a high GPA, as well as honors from the History department for my paper writing skills. Additionally, I did this while working a part-time late night labor job, meaning I have apt study skills to gift to students with limited time. Finally, I have worked at both PlanetBravo Technotainment Camp in Los Angeles and Camp Playland in New Canaan, both of which were education-focused camps that trained me to both educate and engage more unfocused students, including ones with special needs.

About the lesson

Icebreaking with new students revolves around breaking down academic strengths and weaknesses, as well as getting to know each other and establishing boundaries. I start gently, but become more familiar and forthwith over time as I come to understand a student's needs. I encourage study from the get-go, means testinf various tips and options until something sticks.

I have experience working with autistic students that has actually proven valuable in teaching neurotypical students, providing me with calming and straightforward strategies that treat my kids as people, a respect that is always reciprocated.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Am I trying to engage with the work or to pass the class? Are my writing struggles (if any) due to lack of understanding of the material, writing skill, or engagement with the subject? Am I showing the subject proper respect, or am I treating it as a spectacle?
