About Thomas
Hello Students,
I look forward to working with you to first and foremost develop a love for and understanding of the our collective history. Probably more important to you, my goal is to help you earn the best score you can on your AP exams. I have a passion for history and a strong knowledge base. The test is not just about memorizing dates (though they are somewhat important) it is also about being able to discern meaning and rationale behind the most important events in our history. I have some collegiate courses in history under my belt but did not major in the subject as a stand alone major. My degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts was self designed and included elements of economics, philosophy and psychology. These are all relevant to social studies and history. I would love to help you get your best score on the test and maybe pass on some knowledge and grow your love for history.

Tutoring is a one on one process so my first step is to get to know the student. I want to know a little about them and more importantly, how they prefer to learn. Next, I want to know their curriculum, what they know and where they are struggling. I would likely administer a short timed quiz to establish a baseline. I would then reinforce their strengths before focusing on their weak points. While doing so, I would explain the material thoroughly and conversationaly. We would discuss the events leading up to the events in question, discuss the significance of the event and tie it back to the pupil. As much as possible, I would augment this with video material as much as possible and do no pressure quizzes to confirm understanding.
