About Diana

Hi everyone! I LOVE history! I have a History Bachelors degree from William & Mary as well as a Masters of Arts and Teaching in Museum Education from George Washington University. I have also been contracting for various Smithsonian museums, currently at the National Museum of Natural History. I've previously worked as an educator at Historic Jamestowne, Colonial Williamsburg, the National Air and Space Museum, the Smithsonian Libraries, and the Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building. I love teaching history and specialize in American History. I have helped students fully understand the material and become passionate about it. I'd love to have the opportunity to help you too!

History is my passion; I want nothing more than to create a bit of that passion in someone else. I specialize in American History, but am comfortable teaching most historical periods. Because my career is in museum education specifically, I prefer to use artifacts and exhibits to teach subject matter, but don't worry, I can do this remotely too!

I began teaching as a Tour Guide at Historic Jamestowne when I was in college. I fell in love with it and have done my best to continue doing that as a career.

I have a bachelors in American history from William & Mary as well as a masters of arts and teaching from George Washington University. I have also worked as an educator at Historic Jamestowne, Colonial Williamsburg, National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Libraries and Archives, Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building, and the National Air and Space Museum. Currently, I work full-time at the National Museum of Natural History.

About the lesson

I like to find out what they know and understand first, and then expand into what they struggle with. I also find it incredibly important to know what the student finds the most interesting about a general topic, so that I can tie other topics back to it.

I have worked with elementary and middle school students primarily. However, I do have less, but still a good amount, of experience working with high school and college-aged students.
