About Michelle

Relational Riding Academy is the largest lesson facility in the Inland Northwest. We teach riding students of all ages from beginners to World Champions. Our lesson horses are show horses that can give riders who do not have their own horses the best experience available anywhere. Our specialty is western dressage but ARIA certified instructor Michelle Zolezzi holds additional certifications in traditional dressage, hunt seat and combined training and is one the the longest standing, continuously certified instructors in the US. 4 assistant instrutors work with beginners 4 days a week to help riders meet their goals. RRA students have accumulated 17 World Champion Western Dressage titles since 2017. Our work is about making the impossible, possible. For many people the dream of owning a horse is simply out of reach. By attending Relational Riding Academy, dreams and asprirations of fulfilling a love of horses becomes possible for everyone regardless of age or financial situation. The joy and peace inherent in participation with horses is right at the fingertips, literally, of our students. Young people say the horses make their lives better, parents notice improvement in school, social situations, self esteem, coordination, fitness, balance, and so much more. There is no better way I can think of to positively affect my community than to help people be with horses.

In my area in 1985, there were very few competent jumping instructors. My education in that field was quite strong having moved there from Kentucky. I was asked to start working with our local 4H group to make their jumping a safe and sane activity. After that I taught many lessons and sought ARIA ceritfication in 1989 before turning professional.

Michelle has been certified since 1989 and holds ARIA certifications in 3 disciplines. She has been teaching riding since 1983, helping literally hundreds of people learn to ride horses. A complete biography is available on the website at (concealed information)

About the lesson

Our new students receive private lessons with an assistant instructor to insure safety. As they learn they are moved into geroup lesson situations with an experienced instructor.

We work with young and young-at-heart riders with many different goals as well recreational riders. RRA students have won countless awards at the local, State, regional and World competitive levels. Our students move on to do 4H, Pony Club, traditional dressage, hunters and eventing

Seek out an instructor with experience, high expectations, who is assisted by competent people, and that takes good care of the horses and the facility. Demand close attention to safety and detail. Look into the history and current qualifications of the professional.
