About Laura

I am a teenager who has taken and excelled in science courses and would like to tutor in order to earn some extra income this summer.

The other course I offer is Korean tutoring. I speak it almost fluently and because most of my knowledge was obtained through trial and error, I have a very good understanding of grammar principles and particles.

I love watching my students learn and hit their milestones, especially when they have been working so unbelievably hard. I love just seeing how much confidence people can gain from simply UNDERSTANDING something new. I love it.

I have not tutored before but I have assisted my younger sibling with their science homework in the past with great results.

I completed middle school physical science with an A+ and I am currently finishing high school biology and physics with an A- each.

For Korean, I have been learning for upwards of five years now. I am at a nearly fluent level. I learned through online lessons as well as trial and error.

About the lesson

My first step would be evaluating the student's current knowledge and figure out where they need the most work. From there we will create a game plan and break the material up into sessions. I would then plan to meet once either every week or on a bi-weekly basis, depending on the child's individual needs. The length of our sessions will depend on the material being covered but I will shoot for thirty to fourty-five minutes each. I can work with the child either throughout the school year or just for a few weeks.

Don't pick just anyone to tutor your child; try to find a good fit. Not all children learn the same and some will require more help than others. Make sure you match a difficult child with a patient tutor, or a discouraged child with an encouraging tutor. Make your dollars count.

Details

Pay will largely depend on the child's individual needs, but as a general guidline I will charge $15-20 dollars per thirty-minute session, and $30 dollars for every one-hour session. I am willing to negotiate for those who cannot afford higher prices.
