About Malaika

I understand that families all over the world are struggling to adapt to the newfound life that COVID has brought to us and that there are parents struggling to balance home life and work life. I understand especially with trying to make sure my younger brother and sister thrive between their own separate online curriculums while my parents are working all day. I can offer my knowledge and my experience with younger children to help you parents take a break while also improving the cognitive development of your kids.

I am compassionate and outgoing, and a big people person. I enjoy helping others and spending my time improving other peoples' days. I dedicated my time volunteering from middle school to high school at various organizations such as Mothers' Club and Headstart. I chose to pursue my experiences with elementary to middle school kids by becoming a tutor my senior year.

I decided to start tutoring for elementary/middle schoolers because with juggling AP classes/college courses, the foundation of my own curriculum can become weak. While I am helping students exceed in their classes and giving them a good alternative to learn a curriculum that is now strictly online, I am also further improving my own skills.

I am currently a senior in highschool, and have my educational experiences as a student in private tuition to support my experience. I have taken multiple standardized tests for the SAT as well as the ISEE, whilst also working with College-Level coaches and other tutors to better understand the processes in working with students.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is to first understand where in their studies whether it is math or english that they are struggling in. I test out if the foundation of their learning is stable before exercising different methods with worksheets regarding the particular subject as well as helping with homework and classwork etc.

I have tutored various students, typically ranging from 4th grade to 7th grade. I specialize in elementary school math and reading and am particularly strong in the writing department.
