About Jennifer

I love math and I love teaching. I enjoy finding where students are getting stuck on a problem as if it were a puzzle. We fix the place you are getting stuck and move forward with the problem. I currently teach geometry. I have been teaching for 3 years. I work with all different kinds of learners. If for some reason you do not understand the way I teach, I will find another way.

There is nothing more enjoyable than watching a student who struggled finally get the concept and they become more confident in solving the problem.

Honestly, I started with nursing. Although that is an amazing profession, I missed taking math (I know...Nerd Talk). I went back and helped other people in my classes understand the material. Teaching other people came naturally to me and I have always enjoyed it.

I currently teach at a high school in Arkansas. I have taught for 3 years and have tons of resources and extra problems that would help students.

About the lesson

First they tell me what questions we are working on. I may ask a couple of background questions to make sure we understand all of the math concepts before solving the problem they have issues with. If they are still not comprehending we will find or create simpler problems and work our way up until that student is confident working the problems on their own.

I have worked with all different kinds of students from Pre-AP to students who need extra practice to understand the material. The great thing about math is there are multiple ways to get to the answer. This is very similar to how to may take a trip to the grocery store--multiple routes, one destination.

It helps if you know your vocabulary when talking about where your struggling or having your notes from class so we have something to connect with. I can show you a completely different way to solve problems, but some teachers may not use that method. Show me as much as you know and I will help you with the rest.

One of my students said how greatful they are to have me as their teacher. They know I care and will do everything I can to help them succeed.
