About Hannah

I have been teaching intermittently for 4 years. I am currently pursuing a career as a neuropsychiatrist. I study medicine during most of my day; I tutor in my free time. I love helping people learn science - especially my passion: neurobiology.

I have a comprehensive educational background listed in the Q&A section. I can help with many areas of science and math. I also currently teach university students a survery anatomy course as part of my medical studies.

I have ESL experience and experience with disabled students. I can accomodate a variety of different needs and learning styles.

I love sharing my passion for science with others. It makes me so happy to watch students make personal connections with the material or finally comprehend a difficult concept.

Originally, by taking education courses at the university. I enjoy teaching tremendously. For the past year, I have been teaching anatomy and physiology at the university. I absolutely love it. Furthermore, my classes consistently earn the highest scores on exams.

I have a large variety of experiences that make me an excellent tutor. I am currently a student myself - I am studying medicine to pursue a career as a neuropsychiatrist.

As part of my studies, I teach an introduction to anatomy and physiology course at the university. I teach a lab class with 20-25 college students each quarter.

I spent time formally studying education during my early undergraduate years. For 6 months, I taught at the local elementary school as a guest teacher. I specifically taught a second-grade classroom.

I also privately homeschool my autistic brother. In partnership with an online public education system, I have been my homeschooling my brother and teaching him his high school classes for the past 2 years. This includes: physical science, pre-algebra and world history.

My experience also extends to ESL, as well. I have worked as a private ESL tutor for native speakers of Punjabi/Russian.

Regarding education -

My undergraduate degree is in neuroscience with a minor in biology and in psychology. My academic coursework includes:

-3 years of neurobiology courses (i.e. pharmacology, behavioral neuroscience, developmental neurobiology)

-3 years of biology courses with a focus on physiology (i.e. anatomy and physiology, microbiology, cellular and organismal biology, genetics)

-2 years of chemistry courses (i.e. general chemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry)

-3 years of statistics (with an emphasis on research methodology)

-2 years of algebra/calculus

-3 years of psychology courses (i.e. lifespan developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, health psychology, cognition)

-2 years of additional elective coursework for medical school preparation (i.e. physics, health psychology, sociology, nutrition)

About the lesson

I believe it is important to get to know each student's background and personal learning methods. I create individualized tutoring programs for each student tailored to his/her/their specific needs.

A large variety of students including:

-Elementary-aged

-High-school aged

-University students

-Non-traditional university students (40 years of age+)

-ESL students

-Special needs students (Autistic Spectrum Disorder/ADHD/Dyslexia/Developmentally Delayed)

STEM is difficult for everyone. Having the right teacher can make a huge difference in learning the material.

Understand your own learning style and needs first then try to find a teacher that matches best.

Last week, I demonstrated the inhalation and exhalation of the pulmonary system with a pig pluck dissection. I connected a tube into the trachea and pumped air into the larynx. I divided my students into teams of 5 and walked them through the mechanics of breathing. My students were able to each feel the different textures of the trachea, esophagus and lungs. I loved seeing how engaged my students were while I pointed out the various features.

Bundle packages:
