About Lucy

I am currently a third year chemical engineering student at Virginia Tech. I passed AP and IB Calculus in High School and got an A in my engineering calculus classes in college. I have always been well versed in math and excelled in STEM. I have helped several others study for the MATH Empo and any math homework they have had. My Linked in is (concealed information)

In high school my teacher asked me to tutor some of her students since I had the highest grade in the class. Ever since then I have always offered my help to whoever needed it. After I graduate college I hope to become a professor and continue teaching professionally.

In high school, I tutored students in AP Calculus and other math classes. The last two semesters I have been helping my friends with their math classes, specifically elementary calculus 1 and 2, and calculus 1 and 2 since I have had a large courseload. However, this year I am taking less credits and will have more time to tutor others.

About the lesson

The first step in my tutoring process is to first get to know the student and how they learn best, whether it means me working it out with them visually, talking them through to problem, and ideally in the end they would be able to describe how to solve the problem in their own words to ensure they fully understand the material. It is important that the student and I are able to interact and effectively communicate to promote a positive learning environment.

I have worked with students from high school to college, including athletes and cadets. I have never worked with someone who has special needs.

Last semester, I tutored a sophomore in calculus. I had helped him study several days the week of a big test. After he took it, he called me super excited and told me he got an A, I was extremely proud of him.
