About Stephanie
My name is Stephanie Shen, and I am currently a junior studying Accounting and Finance at Binghamton University. As a first-generation low-income college student, I have always enjoyed tutoring because I want to create an impression on students who are self-motivated to improve their scores and their skill sets. This past semester, I was a tutoring intern and completed 64 hours of fieldwork tutoring Calculus 1 and 2, writing, economics, and accounting. In my previous role as a private tutor for Manhattan ACE, I had to communicate with parents, program administrators, and the students themselves to determine their needs, develop effective tutoring strategies, and implement confidence and trust. While developing a weekly supplemental curriculum for 9 first-generation low income students, I was able to elevate the overall student performance proficiency exams by 61% within the first six months. I intend to bring my active listening skills and communication skills into this position by patiently working with each student’s individual learning styles and understanding their strengths and weaknesses.
My tutoring style will be based off of my client's strengths and weaknesses. I will tailor the meetings to answering questions and teaching topics as necessary.
