About Marlene

I'm a lifelong learner and love to share my passion of exploring the world around us. We can all treat our life as a master class. Let's study together! I am detail oriented and will work with you to find your strengths and improve on weaknesses. We use hands-on experiments and projects to learn, because active learning stays with you. I have a Cell & Molecular Biology degree from UCLA, worked in Molecular Virology lab, PSAT Merit award winner, and taught and tutored for over 10 years. I love kids and teaching.

I started tutoring all the way back in elementary school. Helping 2nd graders when I was a 5th grader. I love helping and caring about others, and am a natural encourager!

About the lesson

We first sit down and write down our main goals and target and concerns or areas they feel they need the most improvement. Then we schedule out a learning plan. We do overview and review for first part of session, then learn about a prominent expert, do hands-on project or experiment, and then stay accountable with a independent homework assignment. It's fun to share knowledge and review together in a positive environment.

I have worked with elementary, middle, and high school students. I have taught kids with ADHD and other learning disabilities.

My family went to a Disney Cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it!
