About Brittainy

Hello!

I am a married 35 year old stay at home mom of a 4 year old little girl, in South Central Kentucky. I need 9 credit hours to graduate with a bachelor of science, with a major in biology. I am certified in accounting and computer business technology. My background required a strong knowledge of mathematics, which I will use to help students. I am very patient, understanding, caring, kind, and dedicated.

Math is a subject that builds upon previous math skills. I am a firm believer in practice makes perfect. I want to identify where problems occur and correct them with the student, as this can be easily done in math with all the rules and steps. I'm laid back and easy going, and want to make math fun to do with my students. I think excellent and clear communication between the student and teacher is key when learning math.

I love that "Light Bulb Going Off Moment" when someone truely has learned and understands the math I am teaching. I enjoy students who ask a million questions and are deligent in making sure they are getting the right answers. I also immensely enjoy knowing that I have impacted the student's ability to go into deeper complex areas of math, and that I set the stage, so-to-speak, for their future math learning.

I have always done well in math and science. My favorite subjects are science, math, chemistry, and biology. I was always the student who asked a million questions to make sure I was getting it. I naturally just understood math, and so that led me to help fellow classmates along the way, where i discovered how much I enjoyed teaching too.

I need three classes to graduate from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor of science, major in biology. I am also certified in accounting and computer business technology.

About the lesson

I like to just dive into the math. Show me the problem and I will do my absolute best to help the student learn it. I will make recommendations for things to practice (multiplication times tables, learning formulas, understanding the rules of algebra, etc.) if I see these things would be beneficial to the student. I believe practice makes perfect when it comes to math. The more you practice, the more you learn from your mistakes, and the more you remember the steps of the math problem, the closer you get to where you want to be with your math skills.

I have helped my husband (who has ADHD and dyslexia) with his college algebra sucessfully, younger cousins with high school homework, younger sisters with math homework, and an aunt who decided at the age of 50 to go back to college with math and biology. I am attending Western Kentucky University in pursuit of a bachelors of science, majoring in biology. I am a complete nerd when it comes to math and science, so I thought to make extra money, it would be silly to not teach it. I truely enjoy learning and helping others to learn. It is simply challenging fun for me.

Find a teacher who is dedicated to teaching and making sure the student is understanding and learning, not just teaching to earn a paycheck. Find someone you are comfortable with and who listens. Find a teacher who will go the extra mile for the student.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
All I would ask is that you be able to identify what your having problems with, so that I can understand how I need to make it as easy as possible to understand. I'm very patient and laid back. There are no wrong or silly questions. In math you either get it or you dont. And if you dont, thats okay. We will get it together. Anybody can learn, it just takes motivation, practice, and hard work.

I charge $20/hour. I am a stay at home mom, so I am very flexible with scheduling. I am available though facebook messenger from 11am to 2 am any day of the week for additional questions. I don't mind one bit to help during these times. I can be messaged outside of these times, but you may not get a speedy response.
