About Andrey

I am a current fourth-year student at James Madison University, currently double majoring in Economics and International Affairs. I have a great passion for learning and helping others achieve their personal and academic goals. My main areas of knowledge and focus in mathematics is algebra, I have a lengthy experience with the material in courses throughout my academic career and would love to help students struggling with understanding key concepts, or those who want to learn more and get ahead in math!

I have a wide range background in modern and contemporary European and US history and government which allows me to help students looking for help with the AP US History, Comparative Politics, US Government exams; or any type of Western Civilization/Social Studies course you may struggle with.

Additionally, I also have a wide knowledge on economics (both macro and microeconomic fields) at the high school/AP and university levels. I have completed intermediate-level undergraduate courses in microeconomics and macroeconomics and more than happy to tutor any student who wishes to further understand the workings of economics choices and decisions around them!

I have been serving in on the Opinion and Business sections of the Breeze, James Madison's student-run newspaper. As such, I can help students with writing courses or exams/projects that you may need assistance with.

Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding my academic or experiences in any field of math, social studies, writing, or test prep.

I truly enjoy watching students genuienly enjoy learning and applying material that is newly learned to the world around him or her. It is hard at times for students in many classes to view material as boring and irrelevant to "real world" life, but when students understand the concepts, its easy for him or her to care and see the value in knowledge. This sparks a passion for learning in students that becomes lifelong and will enrich his or her life in every aspect of personal and professional life.

Even if student is unsucessful during intial attempt at course material, seeing students putting more work to become successful in work with my help is something that inspires me to continue helping students and brings me much joy.

I have previous tutoring experience and have current students on other platforms, which has gone well.

I served as a Resident Advisor for the 2018-19 academic year where I learned how to best interact and motivate struggling students.

About the lesson

When starting with a new student, I like to first understand all that material and concepts that student is stuggling with and will encounter in his or her course/exam. After that, I get a feel for what are the best techniques for students to receive instuction and held, based on how they best learn. Finally, working around his or her time constraints create a tailored plan of tutoring for student to review and approve.
