About Keala

In December of 2019, I graduated with a 3.84 GPA from Texas A&M with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and made the decision to take a gap year in order to save money for my application fees and tuition for PT school, which will hopefully be my next step.

During my time at TAMU, I found a passion for life sciences. Living organisms are complex, yet structured, and I've found that many people seeking STEM degrees have a difficult time getting through lower and upper level sciences. Whether you're looking for a tutor to help your high schooler earn AP credits and get into the college of their dreams, or you're a college student wanting to maintain that 4.0, I have been in your position and I have learned the ins and outs of those tedious science classes.

The following classes are ones that I have either earned A's in or served my university as a Teaching Assitant/Supplemental Instruction leader during my undergraduate years:

-Cellular biology

-Histology

-Anatomy & Physiology

-Biology

-Organic Chemistry

At Texas A&M, I performed well in many of my science classes allowing me to earn on-campus Teaching Assistant (TA) positions and as a Supplemental Instructor for the courses I performed well at. Students such as myself that held these positions were hand-picked by professors from previous semesters based on class performance and raport.

I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Biomedical Sciences, which is a pre-med and/or pre-vet degree plan. I have taken nearly every life science under the sun and I have learned what works and what doesn't work when trying to learn new material.

About the lesson

When meeting a new student, I always begin by asking questions to get a general idea about their study habits. How do you approach learning new material (reading, drawing pictures, watching videos)? How much time do you spend outside of the classroom studying?

After every tutoring session, I always ask which concepts were the easiest to remember or comprehend, and which ones were the muddiest. This helps students master concepts they are doing well on, and put into focus the ones didn't stick.

The bulk of my students have been college undergraduate students preparing for medical professions. I have also taught high schoolers needing help earning AP credits or dual credit.
